We are looking for a priest who enjoys working in a team and wants to build a church with us in our area Kärleken – Övraby-Holm in the Halmstad parish. We are a wonderful group that is eager to welcome you as our colleague.

You are welcome to become part of the Kärleken-Övraby-Holm area. Here we have activities that range from the very youngest, through adulthood to those with the most life experience among us. Our calendars are constantly full of activities such as open preschool, engaged choirs, youth activities, and of course worship services. We strive, and believe, that the worship service with Jesus at the center should be the core of how we plan and carry out all our activities.

We envision your pastoral responsibility area to be Holm with its beautiful 12th-century church and its picturesque surroundings right on the outskirts of Halmstad. You will also be highly involved in the larger area of Kärleken-Övraby-Holm with responsibilities for adult work together with our skilled deacon.

In the pastoral area, children and families are highly prioritized. In the autumn of 2025, our new parish house with a two-group preschool, Hoppet, was completed. In Holm, we also have an open preschool.

Our work is based at Kärlekens church and church home where we have our offices, which is only a refreshing bike ride from Holm and a longer stone's throw from the city.

About Kärleken-Övraby-Holm

You will find the Kärleken-Övraby-Holm area in the northern part of Halmstad. This is an area with significant new construction and many young families.

Here are two of Halmstad's parish preschools: Hjärtat and Hoppet. Both are newly built with two departments. In addition, there are many of the municipality's preschools. The area has two municipal schools; Sofiebergskolan (grades F-3) and Stenstorpsskolan (grades 4-9) and a private school; Wallbergsskolan (grades F-9).

Kärleken is an area approaching 9000 inhabitants (2030). Here, the best of both worlds is blended: both suburban and rural environments with meadows and nature. Kärlekens Church is one of the country's first small churches and was consecrated on Easter Monday 1958. The church home was built together with the church in 1986.

In Holm, you will find a charming 12th-century church located in a nice community with about 1000 inhabitants, surrounded by a rural environment. After the inauguration of the new parish house, entirely new opportunities have arisen for our parish work in the area. With the built-in preschool, it is a living building filled with laughter from the 40 children in our two departments.

Sperlingsholms church, built in 1907, was constructed as a church for Sperlingsholm estate but was donated by the estate to the then S:t Nikolai parish in 1972. The church is located in what was formerly Övraby parish, the part that is considered old Halmstad before the city moved down to where it is today.

We invite you to become part of this vibrant pastoral area – where children, youth, adults, and the elderly meet in a community that grows and develops. Here you will have the opportunity to work closely with both colleagues and volunteers, to contribute your ideas and experiences, and together with us continue to build a church – with the worship service at the center.
